The Met: 1000 5th Avenue, New York, NY 10028
Yesterday, I was thrilled to check out the “Models as Muses” exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a fashion exhibit that demonstrated how models have served as inspirations and ambassadors for esteemed designers. These models did more than just look beautiful themselves; rather, they’ve launched and catapulted otherwise inaccessible and daring new silhouettes into mainstream consciousness, therefore iconizing the style of entire generations, and even defining new evolving standards of beauty. It was an interesting way to explore a model’s role from a cultural perspective, and I found it pretty engaging.
The YSL exhibit is still my favorite, but this one comes close! Remember that if you are going to see it, it is a donation-only exhibit, so you can go straight to the back and enter rather than paying for an admission ticket.
It was a no-photo policy, but I managed to sneak a little (teehee). More pics after the jump.
