my first day at work

sooooo i hadn’t posted it yet, cause i wanted to post the blog with the pictures, but i just got a new job: the MYX channel’s newest VJ! yeah, i’m pretty happy about it, its hella fun and hella fresh, and i get to meet dope people who rock. (like, literally.)

this saturday was my first day taping inside Broadway Studios, one of SF’s premier performance venues, and also inside living legacy Mabuhay Gardens, a spot that was once a Filipino restaurant converted into a historic rock venue that has housed Metallica, The Ramones, and umm interestingly, Whoopi Goldberg. either way, they are dope places that i never would have know about had i not been assigned, so i’m uber juuiiiced!

interviewing MUD, an alternative rock band based in SF who also opened up for Linkin Park @ Projekt Revolution earlier that day- they’ve also appeared on SXSW and Vans Warped Tour, so in other words, they are doing the damn.thang.with Drunken Hu? who had the wildestt fans (they almost broke a speaker!) and celebrated the release of their latest EP, Identitiy

dooopeenesss : A Band Called Pain- not exactly what I pictured a Heavy Metal Band to look like, right? Then they were so sweet and charming, I couldn’t believe they are indeed called Pain- plus, for someone whose film choices heavily leans on the rom-com (romantic comedy) side and makes threats sounding like michelle tanner, i didn’t think i could get along so well with a metal band. PS. They’ve rocked SXSW, they’re on the “SAW 2″ soundtrack, and their music was featured on HBO. AND, they were voted Best Metal Band of 2008 by the SF Bay Guardian. big thangs poppin.

*PS- I had to change hella outfits because they were broken up to different episodes, not because i’m getting a head start on being a Diva. You know I loved it though (the outfit changes, not the diva thing).

i didn’t get to get pictures of my interview with Song of the Siren, but they’re supadupa cool folks whose front woman is this badass korean american gal by the name of Isul Kim (she is SO FIERCE!) , who iLL and I had a show with (back when she was doing acoustic) at the University of iLLinois, Urbana Champagne two years back-small world! PS. Isul plays classical piano and has a Harvard Degree. Yep. Reppin.  Isul!!with Angelo, my floor director, who was very kind, and patient enough to keep bringing me my lines to review cause i kept forgetting. eeek =/ my pathetic and amateur photoshop job to demonstrate how much i heart kiser. who is not only iLL’s clothing sponsor, but overall cool human being (yes, kiser is a person! not a robot. or a hospital.) see what I do for you, kiser!? jk. spreadin the ny love on screen. you should too.

well, thats it! my first day at work. oh, and my screen sign off? “you’ve been watching myxology, only here on myx channel. i’m your VJ Ruby, and yall just ‘chill…til the next episode’!*”
