G.P.S. Radar: Native Sol Designs by May Salem

Here on Glamourbaby, your resident G.P.S. (Gangsta Pinay Sista) has her radars blipping and beeping when supasaucy anythings come into the periphery, especially when it comes to fashion. My, how I’ve got a weakness for style and design! Now, I’ve always been that way, but I think what really set it off is the accompaniment of one of my childhood BFFs May Salem, who used to kidnap me for trips to escape the fashion mundane of the suburbs and into the oh-so-”glamourous” mall hallways of Serramonte. Yes. Daly City- the other suburbs across the bay bridge. (Hey, when you’re from Sac, any mall in the Bay can practically be Bloomingdale’s.) Anyhow, May has taught me practically everything I know about fashion, including how to curl my hair using cloth strips, and even provoked my first attempt at “couture” by supergluing gem studs on my bleach-washed denims, then cutting them to transform them into “capris”. Oh my, those pants were sooooo stuntin back in the dizzays!

Anyways, both May and I have come a long way from our days as aspiring fashionistas @ Valley High School, but May especially has kept her promise to continue elevating the fashion game by launching her very own design line, Native Sol. Native Sol is not only a line with gorgeous wear flattering for any size and shape, but the company is dedicated to promoting environmentally-friendly, natural products. May combines her eco-consciousness and hand for exceptional design by launching a design line that uses fabric such as pina (pineapple fabric), batik, and organic cotton, all 100% original and 200% incredible. She sews and nurtures each product with a love for art and the philosophy for peace- now who wouldn’t want to be draped in that!?

*I wore a beautiful Native Sol dress (my favorite dress out of my closet) to my appearance on MYX TV’s Built from Skratch, which you can peep here!
